Our History
RealOptions celebrates 30 years of Life! Our Mission Statement
We commit to empowering and equipping women and men to choose life for their unborn children through the love of Jesus Christ in accordance with His Word regarding the sanctity of human life.
Statement of Principles
RealOptions/CPC is an outreach ministry of Jesus Christ through His church.
We are committed to: - Proclaiming the sanctity of human life - in both word and deed.
- Providing our clients with accurate information, to the best of our knowledge.
- Serving clients with integrity, earning their trust, providing promised information and services, and eschewing any form of deception in corporate advertising or individual conversations.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of clients, by only revealing information to those outside the organization with the client's permission, except as required by law.
- Assisting women, men, and students by providing emotional, spiritual, and practical support.
- Creating awareness within the local community of the needs of pregnant women and of the fact that abortion only compounds human need rather than resolving it.
- Promoting chastity outside of marriage and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman as taught in the Bible.
- Presenting the Gospel of our Lord to women, men, and students with pregnancy and related issues.
RealOptions/CPC does not:
- Discriminate in providing services to anyone.
- Recommend, provide, or refer for abortion or abortifacients.
- Charge for services.
- Recommend, provide, or refer single women or men for contraceptives.
The primary role of RealOptions is to be an alternative to abortion clinics by offering life giving options with support to those who feel abortion is their only answer. We will act as an advocate for the birth mother and promote life-saving alternatives to abortion. RealOptions recognizes the validity of adoption as one alternative to abortion.
Our Center Locations and HoursClick here for a listing of our centers and the hours we are open.
A Brief History:In 1979 a group of concerned Christians viewed the Francis Schaeffer film series, “Whatever Happened to the Human Race?” The seriousness of abortion, as a part of our culture’s moral decay, so struck these couples that they decided to start a crisis pregnancy center. In June of 1980 a steering committee was formed and in September of 1981 the Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Santa Clara County opened its doors of ministry. We were the second CPC to open in California and the fourth in the nation. Our initial training was provided by the national organization now known as the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), with whom we are affiliated. We are also affiliates with CareNet, a national pregnancy center network, and Heartbeat International. Over the years CPC has undergone 3 name changes with the intention of keeping our services accessable to the most abortion vulnerable clients. Our last name change occurred in fall of 2009 when we became RealOptions.
The first center opened at 277 Castro Street in Mountain View, CA. Two moves later God enabled us to purchase the building at 836 W. El Camino Real, Mountain View. Our first satellite center opened in South San Jose at 1150 Hillsdale Avenue in 1987. In August of 2009 we were blessed to relocate our Hillsdale center to 3315 Almaden Expwy., Ste. 25 in San Jose in order to house our second medical clinic. In 1994 we opened our second satellite center in East San Jose on Story Road. That center soon was relocated to a bigger & more visible site on White Road in 1997, finally moving to a more permanent facility in 2003. Out goal is to expand that office to a medical clinic to better serve clients in East San Jose.
December 1999 was a major milestone for RealOptions/CPC when our first medical clinic was opened in the Mountain View Center. This medical clinic expanded its services to include prenatal care for uninsured women. In 2009 RealOptions/CPC was blessed to receive a grant from Focus on the Family’s Option Ultrasound Program. This grant was used to train RN’s in obstetrical ultrasound so that we can offer an ultrasound to every client with a positive pregnancy test. The heart of our ultrasound program is to serve more abortion vulnerable women in our community.
Moving the South San Jose office to 3315 Almaden Expressway enabled us to provide ultrasounds to every client with a positive pregnancy test as well as pre-natal care to our East and South San Jose clients.
RealOptions/CPC offers an education program to schools/groups/clubs inSanta Clara County. In 1995 the program was expanded to include a comprehensive abstinence awareness program called “Save It” which was offered to public and private schools as well as youth groups. Since then we have developed the STD HIV/AIDS & Healthy Sexuality Program. This new program has expanded beyond schools and youth groups to also serve those in the juvenile detention centers, county jails, and Day Reporting Programs. In 2010 alone, our program reached over 4,300 teens and young adults in Santa Clara County
