Assistant Patient Services Manager, Union City

Under the supervision of the Patient Services Manager (PSM), the APSM  will supervise the volunteer advocates and manage the Clinic in the absence of the PSM. This will be done by overseeing the daily function of the advocates and Patient Services Administrator as well as assisting with individual and classroom training.

Qualifications

  • Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Has had experience in advocacy for women in pregnancy situations.
  • Has attended Discover Real Options, completed AdvocateTraining as well as on the job training.
  • Demonstrates competence in advocacy skills and supervision.
  • Is dependable, stable, and capable of following through with commitments.
  • Agrees with RealOptions/Obria’s statements of Principle, Mission and Faith; and philosophies of Ministry and Service.
  • Has sincere desire to reach out to women and their families in unplanned pregnancies, especially abortion vulnerable and abortion minded patients.

Responsibilities

Clinical:

  • Trains and supervises volunteers under the PSM’s leadership
  • Co-interviews, orients, and trains new volunteers
  • Participates in Discover RealOptions 2-3 times a year

Administration:
Assists the PSM to:

  • Supervise maintenance of clinic’s records, both clinical and business.
  • Ensures quality control by reviewing Patient Advocates’ charting with risk management in mind.
  • Maintain an adequate supply system.
  • Maintain and update referrals and literature resources.
  • Oversees practical support operations with PSM supervision, including childbirth classes.

Public Relations:

  • Acts as a spokesperson to the community as appropriate.
  • Is a representative to schools, civic organizations and churches when needed.

Patient Services Manager, Mountain View

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Patient Services Manager (PSM) is responsible for the functioning of the RealOptions patient services in their respective site location.  This includes recruiting, training, and supervision of paid and volunteer patient services staff to uphold the Policies and Procedures given by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Has excellent computer skills and is able to learn Patient Services software program as well as other related programs.  
  • Has completed the Volunteer Orientation, as well as on- the-job training.  
  • Is competent in crisis counseling and management.
  • Is able to manage a volunteer program with a teamwork approach to complete tasks.
  • Possesses some public speaking skills and high quality telephone etiquette.
  • Agrees with RealOptions Statement of Principle, Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, and Philosophies of ministry and service.
  • Has sincere desire to reach out to women, men, and their families in unplanned pregnancies, especially the abortion vulnerable and abortion- minded.

Responsibilities

Clinical:

  • Interviews, orients and trains new volunteers per RealOptions Policy and Procedure Manual and Care-Net Training Manual.
  • Participates in teaching scheduled Volunteer Orientation sessions three times per year.  Teaches volunteer training sessions.
  • Leads in-service meetings for the Patient Advocates to review policies, procedures, and counseling skills.
  • Works closely with Director of Nursing and RN and other medical staff.

Administrative

  • Supervises maintenance of center patient records.
  • Oversees patient data for a statistical system.
  • Oversees the stock of supplies.
  • Maintains and updates referrals and literature resources.
  • Is an effective liaison between the administrative staff and patient services staff and volunteers, keeping them well informed of current fundraising and community awareness events and projects.
  • Responsible to maintain current volunteer database records through patient tracking software system.
  • Brings Policy and Procedure suggested changes to the Executive Director, who will obtain the approval of the Medical Director and Board of Directors prior to implementation.  All changes made to any written Policy and Procedures must be created by the Director of Operations and stored on the RealOptions computer server as the master copy.  No changes are authorized to be made on individual computers at RealOptions.
  • Oversees practical support operations including childbirth classes.

Public Relations

  • Acts as a spokesperson/ambassador for RealOptions to the community.
  • Serves as a representative to schools, civic organizations and churches as needed.

Personal Development

  • Increases knowledge of management skills, counseling methods and community resources.
  • Attends all paid staff meetings, including monthly staff prayer meetings, and fundraising events.
  • Attends skill enhancing workshops, classes, and conferences as approved by the Executive Director.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Under the direction of  the Clinic Operations Manager the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing patient needs (physical, emotional, social, and spiritual), planning and performing direct and indirect nursing interventions, and evaluating appropriateness and effectiveness of nursing care. Must be willing to be trained in obstetrical ultrasound.  Bi-lingual or sonography experience are a plus!

Qualifications

  • Holds a current license in good standing with the California Board of Registered Nurses (RN).
  • Has current CPR certification.
  • Possesses good physical and mental health (annual TB test/flu vaccination/health exam required).
  • Demonstrates competent knowledge of care for STI, obstetrical and women’s health issues.
  • Agrees with the RealOptions’ Statements of Principle, Mission and Faith.
  • Is dependable, stable and capable of following through on commitments.
  • Has a sincere desire to reach out to women and their families in unplanned pregnancies especially the abortion-vulnerable and abortion-minded.
  • Respects confidentiality.
  • Maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy and would never refer/advise a woman to have an abortion.
  • Completion of the volunteer orientation requirements.

Responsibilities

A. Nursing

  • Gives a concentrated amount of time shadowing  a RN sonographer (as determined by Manager) and observe many ultrasounds prior to practical training.
  • Agrees to complete a concentrated sonography training program with RealOptions associates and be willing to dedicate 10 days of full-time training hours plus travel if needed.
  • Will practice new sonography skills under the supervision of an RN sonographer/Manager until authorized to complete solo ultrasounds.
  • All RN sonographers perform under the Medical Director.
  • Complete all requirements within 1.5 years of Ultrasound training to receive the Golden Certificate of completion.
  • Available and willing to work in all RealOptions clinic locations during hours of operation as scheduled and some weekends.

B.  Patient Care

  • Performance of pregnancy tests and STD/STI testing per clinic protocol.
  • Reviews and/or completes Ultrasound medical history, confirm all consents and patient paperwork completed.
  • Provides medical education on ultrasound procedures, STIs, Abortion pill (RU-486) and pregnancy testing to all patients per clinic protocol.
  • Helps the patient and family develop an understanding of their condition, identifies needs, establishes goals and institutes an appropriate plan for self-care.
  • Provides health education to the patient and family and implements therapeutic care plan.
  • Maintains accurate records, accurate care plans, and implements healthcare discharge summary plan.
  • Provides nursing care that assesses patient needs and makes nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
  • Demonstrates confidence and is comfortable completing abdominal and vaginal ultrasound examinations.
  • Takes precautionary measures to provide a chaperone as needed.
  • Performs various related tasks such as re-stocking and checking for needed supplies, filling soap dispensers, checking expiration dates on all pertinent items, and notifying Nurse Manager or Clinic Operations Manager  of any discrepancies found. Downloading and filing ultrasound reports, patient lab reports, or other correspondence in their charts per clinic protocol.
  • Ability to assess and perform in the event of an anaphylactic or other emergency situation.
  • Documents manual and/or electronic patient information on specific chart entries in a timely manner.

C. Personal and Staff Development

  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service meetings as directed.
  • Maintains professional licensure.
  • Maintains and improves working knowledge of nursing methods, principles and practices in relationship to prevention and treatment of disease, emergency procedures, safety and infection control, clinical systems, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains working knowledge of ultrasound techniques and principles and practices of safety/universal precautions.
  • Participates in all fundraising and community outreach events which includes inviting family, friends and church members to join you at these events.
  • Helps to promote all RO events at your church and among your circle of friends. Willing to be a team player to assist or become the volunteer Ambassador at your local church to represent RO throughout the year in various ways as allowed by your pastor (tabling/bulletin announcements/website links, brochures on outreach tables, sharing in small groups, etc.).
  • Attends a Discover RealOptions class prior to or shortly after being hired.
  • Attends and encourages volunteers to attend annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

Director of Education

Under the supervision of the V.P. of Community Outreach and Business Development, the Director of Education has the overall responsibility for the development, implementation, and operation of the College Campus Outreach and Community Education Programs of RealOptions.

  • Recruits, trains, and oversees program volunteers.
  • Manages and directs the activities of the Campus Manager and Education Team presenters.
  • Responsible for the selection and/or development of appropriate program curriculum.
  • Facilitates effective implementation of program curriculum to schools, churches, detention centers, and other community organizations.

Qualifications

  • Has earned a bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Has two or more years experience in a management position with direct supervisory experience, including performance management, training, and coaching.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities with the ability to direct, motivate, and supervise personnel to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, passionate, and able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Experience in curriculum and new program development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, Facebook, and Instagram.

Major Responsibilities

Administration

  • Evaluate, select, and maintain educational materials and resources for the program, keeping current with the times and education laws in California.
  • Assist in creation of all promotional materials/brochures, keeping them current.
  • Schedule all education program requests and appropriate speakers.
  • Oversee work of the Campus Manager, RealTalk presenters, and program volunteers.
  • Determine and implement department goals and objectives for College Campus Programs and RealTalk
  • Implement and oversee policies and procedures, training manuals covering presentations, correspondence, meeting documentation, and other activities of Campus Manager, RealTalk Presenters, and education volunteers.
  • Meet regularly with V.P. of Community Outreach and Business Development to report needs, problems, and progress.
  • Provide quarterly, annual, and ad hoc statistics on numbers of presentations, number of students and adults reached, and other data as requested by V.P. of Community Outreach and Business Development.  Manage Education expenses for RealTalk and College Campus Outreach budget. Keep database/Ekyros current.
  • Submit periodic updates or stories for newsletter articles or video project suggestions.
  • Update and maintain program content on RO Patient and Supporter websites, Facebook, Instagram, and any other social media, keeping information current and relevant.

Public Relations

  • Promote and expand the Community Education Program and cross promote the ministry of RealOptions (Post-Abortion Healing, Abstinence, STI testing/treatment, Pregnancy Options, Life Skills, Parent Education, Patient Services and the Sanctity of Human Life) to pastors, churches, schools, and organizations throughout Santa Clara and Alameda Counties.
  • Craft a strategic marketing and publicity plan to reach college campuses and area schools (private and public) and youth groups with pregnancy options, STD prevention, pregnancy and fetal development, and risk avoidance curriculum.
  • Generate leads, make follow up calls, and schedule appointments with potential leads.
  • Maintain a working relationship with target audiences such as:  special committees, agencies, youth organizations, youth pastors, school administrators, teachers, and nurses.
  • Participate in development functions/events such as Discover RealOptions, Ignite Life, Walk for Life as requested by the V.P. of Community Outreach and Business Development.

Development

  • Participate in meetings and network with other organizations as they relate to the educational needs of the community and  RO patient services.
  • Work closely with and collaborate with RealOptions staff to recruit, select, screen, and interview program volunteers.
  • Oversee and evaluate performance of the program volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other team managers for annual Volunteer Appreciation events, Discover RealOptions, and fundraisers.
  • Identify areas for self-improvement in order to perform assigned projects and carry out responsibilities to meet desired outcomes.  Actively pursue appropriate means and methods to increase effectiveness and education in those areas.
